Buctainment is welcoming students back to campus with a full lineup of events this fall, aimed at building community and engaging student organizations.
Claire Wehner, president of Buctainment, shared some of the highlights students can look forward to this semester.
One new addition Buctainment debuted at the first home football game against Murray State on Saturday, Aug. 30, was a mechanical bull. Wehner shared it is a part of the group’s initiative to become more involved in game day activities.
Looking ahead, Buctainment will host Fall Fest on Oct. 16. The carnival-themed event will feature live music, inflatable attractions and tabling opportunities for student organizations.
Another anticipated event is Trunk or Treat scheduled for October, which may include contests for student organizations. More information about the event will be released soon.
Wehner is looking forward to working with student organizations this year and hosting events during homecoming week. On Sept. 11, they will partner with Student Foundation Ambassadors and Campus Recreation to present a poolside showing of “Moana” at the CPA.
Buctainment will team up with The Swift Society for an event and will join SGA to host a screening of “Gladiator” on Oct. 24, as part of homecoming festivities.
In the meantime, students can attend Buctainment’s alternating trivia and karaoke nights on Mondays from 6-8 p.m. at Pepper’s Grill. It’s an event Wehner describes as low-key and a great opportunity for students to hang out.
“My biggest goal this year is to figure out what students want to see on campus,” said Wehner. “I think it is important to hear from the public as much as we can.”
To encourage feedback and student involvement, Buctainment is holding bimonthly meetings for the student body to discuss.
“If you have ideas, come and join us and talk about how we can improve and what you want to see on campus,” Wehner said.
