On Saturday Feb. 7, ETSU men’s basketball kept its winning streak alive in the game against the Virginia Military Institute. The three and a half hour drive was certainly worth it as the final score showed an 87-70 point win for the Bucs.
This victory managed to keep the team’s first-place rank in the Southern Conference standings with a 10-2 SoCon record and 18-7 overall.
Though it was a tight first half, ETSU only led by seven points with the score being 40-33. Luckily, the team was able to keep up the momentum and secure the win. Sophomore Blake Barkley had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds throughout the game. Following close behind was Cam Morris III, scoring 16 points total. Jordan McCullum hit double figures with 14 points, and had three rebounds with four assists.
Having not lost to VMI in over three years, the team just keeps getting stronger. As they continue to progress through the season, we will see if they can keep this streak going. You can come celebrate Valentine’s Day on the court as the team faces off against Samford at Freedom Hall on Saturday, Feb. 14 at noon.
