On March 6-8, the ETSU men’s baseball team faced off against James Madison University in a three-game series. However, this four-hour drive to Harrisonburg, Virginia, did end in defeat for the Bucs. After some intense fog on the field, the first game had to be suspended with ETSU up 1-0. The game resumed the next day, and JMU came back with more power than ever.

After resuming the game on March 7, JMU managed to gain a 9-1 lead in the fourth inning. ETSU still lagged and allowed two more runs, causing the 10-run rule to come into play. The 10-run rule states that if one team is ahead by 10 or more runs after the seventh inning, the game ends without playing through. All this led to a final score of 11-1, JMU.

The second game of the double-header day was another unfortunate loss for the Bucs. It ended 4-6 in favor of JMU after a hard-fought nine innings.

The Bucs came back for what would hopefully be a better game on March 8. Luckily, these men could come home with at least one win under their belt as the final score showed a 13-0 win for the Bucs. Andrew Cotten was the winning pitcher. Following him, ETSU’s offensive leaders Matt Evans and Tyler Fetterman each had 3 RBIs. This game officially puts the team’s overall record at 10-5.
