The Johnson City Doughboys have a rich history within the city, being an official team since 1975. Originally called the Johnson City Cardinals and being affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals, they rebranded in 2021 alongside the structural changes to Minor League Baseball. Sporting a new name, the Johnson City Doughboys, which was inspired by a statue that rests behind their home stadium, which honors the infantryman that died during WW1.
In an interview with the Johnson City Doughboys General Manager, Patrick Ennis, we asked him about his favorite part of working with the team. He said that his favorite thing is “seeing the families coming out for a night, having a smile on their face, and having a fun time all together. I kinda joke that I am so focused on the fans during the game, that sometimes I don’t even know what’s going on on the field.”
While the Johnson City Doughboys promotion schedule is not yet official, make sure to keep an eye out and cheer on the local baseball team.
