On Tuesday, April 14, the ETSU softball team made their way to Spartanburg, S.C. to play against USC Upstate in a doubleheader. With this game being settled between two SoCon opponents, the Buccaneers went in with something to prove.
The first game began at 3 p.m., and the Bucs started off rough. USC Upstate scored two runs in the first inning and another three in the second, with the Buccaneers being unable to score. Five innings went by with no one scoring. The game ended at the top of the seventh inning, with a final score of 0-5, the Buccaneers losing to a wipe.
The second game started at 5:15 p.m., soon after the previous game ended. This game started stronger for the Buccaneers, scoring a run in the second inning immediately following a run from the opponent. The game spiraled from there, with USC Upstate scoring six runs in the third inning, and two more in the following innings. At the end of the fifth inning, ETSU lost to a final score of 1-9.
The ETSU softball team will be back in Johnson City, Tenn. on April 18 and 19 against SoCon opponent Wofford. Make sure to support the Buccaneers as their season comes to a close and the Championship creeps up.
