On April 17 and 18, the ETSU softball team competed in a three-game series vs Wofford. The team managed to win two out of the three games in this series. While they did defeat the number five seed in the Southern Conference Tournament, the Buccaneers still rank sixth with a 5-10 record.

The opening game featured a strong defense, with Abigail Taylor and Whitney Boone combining to make 10 putouts in left and center field. Taylor also managed to steal her 20th base this season. With a strong play from each of the players, the game ended with the team totaling 28 at-bats, eight runs, 10 hits, eight RBIs, two stolen bases and five assists through 21 putouts.

The following day led to a loss with a final score of 3-15, ending with only seven innings played. Leinani Lutu secured her fourth home run of the season, driving it over the left field fence. The second game of the day ended in a final score of 7-4 in favor of ETSU. Pitcher Catlin Pennington faced 28 batters, surrendered one walk, seven hits and registered one strikeout. That, combined with Lutu’s two-RBI triple in the bottom of the fifth, gave the team a total of 29 at-bats, 12 hits, seven RBIs and seven assists through 21 put-outs this game.

The team’s overall score comes to 17-23 with a .425 PCT. The ladies will continue their season, facing off in another three-game series vs Samford on April 25-26. Come support the Bucs at Betty Basler Field or tune into ESPN+ as they continue in the SoCon Tournament.
