Are you interested in hosting an event on or off campus, but don’t know where to start? The BUC Fund is a student activity fee fund managed by the Student Government Association at ETSU. The program is set up to fund activity and event requests from registered student organizations on campus.

Audie Brown, SGA vice president for finance and administration, explained some changes made to the BUC Fund this year.

“The most impactful of these changes has been a $5,000 off-campus funding cap on applications. This was instituted to spread our funds across a few more groups per year and to ensure that we are providing as many opportunities as we can while also encouraging groups to seek funding from their respective departments to close the gap,” Brown said.

“Additionally, we have decreased our maximum off-campus applicant group size to 12 students for the same reason,” Brown said. “We hope that these changes will allow for more groups to utilize BUC Fund’s resources while still ensuring that we can provide adequate funding for those who need it.”

For now, there are no off-campus funds for the fall semester. The budget still has $46,307 for on-campus events this fall. Looking ahead to the spring budget, there is $32,616 for on-campus events and $11,404 for off-campus events.

Alex Loyd, secretary of allocations in the SGA Executive Cabinet, said the process is meant to be approachable.

“BUC Fund can be overwhelming, but we want it to be as easy a process as possible. So, I am so excited to announce SGA’s very first BUC Fund Information Session on Oct. 29, 2026,” Loyd said. “At this event, students will be able to learn about the application process, get advice from previous applicants and talk with current SGA members. We encourage all students and faculty advisers to come, meet new people and learn about BUC Fund.”

Any student looking to apply can go to the BUC Fund page on the ETSU website for more information on how to apply. There, applicants will find standard operating procedures, BUC Fund 101 and the BUC Fund Checklist.
