Earlier this month, Grace Meadows Farm Creamery hosted its grand opening for its newest location in Johnson City.

The grand opening took place on Oct. 7, when they hosted a giveaway with an opportunity to win free ice cream for a year, in addition to giving out free ice cream scoops for the first 30 minutes during the event.

“We had a great crowd at the opening,” said Tammy Eldridge, an owner of Grace Meadows Farm. “People were there an hour early. People stayed and had fun. We played cornhole. We had picnic tables outside. It was really a great gathering. I felt like the community was excited to have locally made ice cream in this area.”

This is their fourth creamery location, with their other creameries located on the Grace Meadows Farm, in downtown Jonesborough and in Kingsport.

One of Eldridge’s main priorities with the creamery has been to use all-natural, handmade ingredients for their ice cream. Currently, she’s also working towards being able to use local milk in their products to help other local farmers.

“It just feels more authentic to this area because when I make it like that, it tastes more like my grandma’s homemade ice cream,” said Eldridge.

The creamery has options such as ice cream, milkshakes, floats and sundaes. There are several flavor options, with some of their most popular being amaretto cherry, blackberry cheesecake and Biscoff. They also have seasonal specialties, which currently include cranberry sorbet, strawberry sorbet, toasted s’mores and pumpkin spice latte.

Eldridge is also looking at working with some local stores that have expressed interest in carrying Grace Meadows Farm ice cream.

“I think supporting local is super important and just understanding all the passion that we’ve put into it,” said Eldridge.

The creamery is located at 3998 Bristol Hwy and is open from 1-9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
