Two employees from the Office of Career Placement and Internship Services have been recognized for their hard work in developing the ePortfolio program.
Jeanette Hill and Calvin Purvis received this recognition due to the extra work and long hours they put behind the development of this program that allows job hunters to present their rsum in a modern way.
The human resource office of ETSU founded this award to give recognition to an employee or a group of employees who have displayed outstanding service to ETSU or to the surrounding community.
To be the recipient of the award, the employees need to be nominated by their director. Dan Emmel, director of career placement, said, “I am a person who believes in recognizing employees. The organization is only as good as the people who work there. I value them and their efforts. This is my way of saying thanks and job well done.”
Hill is the information research technician for career placement. She is also in charge of scheduling events, employer job listing services and the web site.
Hill has served ETSU for 43 years. She has an associate’s degree in office technology from Northeast State Technical Community College, a bachelor of science degree in general studies, and a master of education degree in reading and storytelling from ETSU.
“It makes me feel good to know that I’ve helped students on campus,” she said of the recognition.
Purvis is the assistant director of career placement. He also works in the job futuring series, which builds rsums, practices interviews and helps make a job seeker more appealing to employers.
Purvis has worked for the university for seven years and has been at his current position since April 1998. He has a bachelor of business arts degree in finance with a concentration in banking from ETSU and a master of arts degree in applied organization management from Tusculum College. He has also completed 40 hours of advanced human resource training from the Society of Human Resource Management.
Each month the recipients of this award are placed on the Internet Jobs web site, which can be found, by going to the ETSU web site and clicking on Jobs at ETSU.
