A new semester means new events and activities from ETSU Campus Recreation — including several, more unique events.

Among those: Goat yoga, which is exactly what it sounds like.

“I did the goat yoga last year, and it was a blast, so I’m excited to see that come back,” said Campus Recreation worker Hannah Gatlin. “It’s something most Campus Recs don’t do, so I’m glad to see we’re moving in that direction of being different than anybody else.”

This semester, goat yoga will held Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. in the CPA. And while goat yoga may not be the most Halloween-focused event, there will be plenty of those as well.

“We have blacklight yoga, the “Night of the Living Deadlift” competition and then we’ll also be having Halloween at the CPA, so we’ll be having special Halloween event classes,” Gatlin said.

On Oct. 19, Campus Rec Outdoor Adventure will be a Virginia Creeper Bike Ride, which will cost $10. Other Outdoor Adventure trip highlights include: Flatwater paddling (Sept. 12), a Tweetsie Trail bike ride (Sept. 24), canoe camping (Sept. 27-29) and several day hiking trips throughout the semester.

More information and prices can be found at https://www.etsu.edu/students/campusrec/oa/oatrips.php or by emailing outdooradventure@etsu.edu.

Campus rec also has intramural sports throughout the year, including flag football, dodgeball and kickball. Students can register online at imleagues.com. Single day events are also available, with registration for tennis tournament and battleship opening Sept. 11 and 19, respectively.

“[Most of these events] you’ve already paid for,” Gatlin said. “It’s in your campus fees, so you might as well use it. And it’s a wonderful stress relief to get some time away from being at school.”
