Valentine’s Day arrived as a time to celebrate and cherish loved ones. Campus Recreation, ETSU Wellness and the Robertson Center emphasized self-love and care during Be Kind To Your Body Week. From Feb 9-13, health events were hosted around campus to encourage affirmation, good feelings, healthy eating habits and fitness.
The week began with an affirmation hearts desk on Monday in both the CPA Lobby and Culp Main Street, where students shared positive declarations to encourage motivation and reassure others they were doing a good job.
As it was the week of Valentine’s Day, the wellness event naturally featured a few Valentine’s Day-themed activities. On Wednesday, Feb. 11, craft materials were provided in the Culp Main Street for students to create DIY Valentine’s bouquets. Thursday featured a similar event beginning at 5 p.m. for Valentine’s Day cards in the Robertson Center located in the Carrier Center.
The CPA Lobby also offered Valentine’s Day snacks from 10 a.m. to noon on Feb. 13. Galentine’s at the Wall, a rock climbing event for women, took place at the rock climbing wall in the CPA.
Thursday’s events focused on healthy eating habits. February is not only the season for love but is also National Eating Disorder Awareness Month. In the CPA Lobby, a Mindful Eating Table with campus dietitian Joni Trotter took place to share resources and information. A Southern Smash event in University Commons from noon to 4 p.m. helped demonstrate a healthy relationship with food.
