With in-person activities mostly on hold, ETSU Buctainment has been finding ways to connect students with the campus and each other. On Tuesday at 7 p.m., Buctainment held an online trivia night over Twitch.
“Basically this all kind of started back in March when we were sent back home to begin with,” said Haley Mullins, vice president of Buctainment. “And some of our events were getting cancelled, so we had to figure out a way to still reach out to students and feel together even though we’re not in person.”
Virtual Trivia Night gained popularity after Buctainment hosted the event with Game Shows To Go! over the summer.
“The company [Game Shows To Go!] is actually sending out amazon gift cards via email,” Mullins said. “Once you win a round, the quicker you answer and the more answers you get correct in each round, the closer you get to a prize. The top three winners from each round get a prize.”
Students were able to answer questions on Twitch through the chatroom as well as the live stream to win prizes. A simple design and instructions made the event accessible for everyone with online access. This event was coordinated by Buctainment in partnership with Game Shows To Go!.
“We just decided to bring that back this semester and hopefully give students a little bit of a break from classes,” Mullins said.
Buctainment has decided to continue trivia nights throughout the fall semester in order to continue to provide students with activities during the semester.
“Its been a challenge overall but our programmers have taken it by the horns and have just gone with it,” Mullins said.
Buctainment has been working to plan not only this event, but future events including more trivia nights, a drive-in movie Saturday and more. For more information on how to get involved with trivia night, visit Buctainment’s Instagram, @etsubuctainment, and their Twitch, @easttennesseegameshow .
