On Monday, April 18, South Arts Tour of Independent Film Screening came to the D.P. Culp Student Center and screened “Lily Topples the World.”

For more than a decade, ETSU has presented spring films free of charge from the South Arts Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers.

“We are so excited to have this relationship,” said Dr. Shara Lange, an associate professor and program head for Radio/TV/Film at ETSU. “I encourage students, faculty, staff and the public to engage with these films.”

“Lily Topples the World” follows 20-year old sensation Lily Hevesh – the world’s most acclaimed domino toppler and the only girl in her field – as she rises as an artist, role model and young woman.

This documentary was filmed for over three years and features appearances from Jimmy Fallon, Katy Perry and YouTuber Casey Neistat. This coming-of-age film shows how a unique artist rose against all odds and made her dreams come true, from a Chinese adoptee to an artistic woman with over one billion YouTube views on her videos and 3.62 million subscribers.

Not only is Lily Hevesh a domino artist, but she also has her own brand of dominoes. She writes on her YouTube channel, “H5 Domino Creations is my own brand of precision-engineered dominoes and accessories, which I designed specifically for toppling. Made in collaboration with Spin Master, each domino is manufactured using the highest quality materials for the best toppling performance.”

She even has a list of fun facts about herself on the “about” section of her channel. She states that she was nine years old when she started building with dominoes, she owns over 100,000 dominoes, her personal domino record is 32,000 dominoes toppled and she got into the art of dominoes by searching the word “dominoes” on YouTube!

As the semester is winding down, this was the final of five showings of different films for the Spring 2022 semester. Check www.etsu.edu/etsu-news next spring for updates on what films will be shown next year.
