On Thursday, Aug. 4, Interim Athletic Director Dr. Richard Sander shared there will be “a national search to find the leader of our women’s basketball program.”
This comes after an announcement earlier this week informing Simon Harris, former head coach, of ETSU’s intent to terminate his employment after Title IX complaints from former members.
As of now, Jackie Alexander is listed as the acting head coach for the women’s basketball team. She will be given the opportunity to interview for the position as well during the search.
Alexander began working with team in April 2021, and she spent the two previous seasons as an assistant coach at Eastern Kentucky University. Her leadership in college basketball spans five years, staring out as a video coordinator for the Air Force Academy.
In her own athletic career, Alexander spent one season at Army West Point and then transferred to the University of the Cumberlands. She was a team captain as a junior and senior, selected for the All-Mid South Conference twice and a NAIA Academic All-American twice.
The national search for the head coach will start immediately.
