On Tuesday, April 25, ETSU’s own Buctainment provided students with a “Shrek” double-feature in The Cave.

The event began at 5 p.m. and showed both “Shrek 1” and “Shrek 2” as part of Buctainment’s contribution to dead week activities. They served popcorn, and even encouraged students to dress up as their favorite characters from the movies.

It was originally scheduled to take place at the Amphitheatre, but it was too bright outside, according to Buctainment member Kiely Long.

Allie Collins, Buctainment staff programmer, spoke on the idea for the event and the importance of finding time to relax before finals.

“One of our members, Kiely Long, came up with this idea last semester, and we were all on board,” said Collins. “We decided to do it the week before finals because students are usually stressed, and this does give them a couple of hours to come and hangout and have some laughs at a very classic movie that was a big part of most of our childhoods.”

Buctainment is a student programming board for ETSU students and the community. Buctainment has hosted several events this semester, such as making pet rocks, other movie nights (including “Don’t Worry Darling”), bingo nights, lawn games and more.

Buctainment’s last event of the semester will be held on Friday, April 28, at 7 p.m. in the Culp Center Cave. They will be hosting a karaoke night and invite everyone to come celebrate the last weekend before finals.
