As ETSU’s men and women prepare to step onto the turf, the Bucs brace for a soccer season like no other. Players are lacing up their shoes with hopes of becoming Southern Conference champions.
Returning as a forward for her senior year, Emma Arnold said, ”I’m super excited about my last year. We have an amazing group of girls this season who are ready to compete and strive towards winning the SoCon. I’m confident in our abilities as a team, and I can’t wait to see what all we accomplish together.”
Arnold scored four goals and one assist last season. Her senior leadership will guide the Lady Bucs as they step forward in the Southern Conference this season.
Looking at the men’s team, who finished second in the SoCon last season, senior Henrik Guenther reflects on his time as a student-athlete. Guenther’s hard work powered a defense with seven clean sheets last season.
“I’m feeling very positive about this year,” said the upperclassman defender. “I think we have a great team, and we’ll be able to achieve a lot. In my years of college, especially playing sports, I learned that working hard and treating people good always pays off and it will get you further in life than taking shortcuts.”.
In addition, the Bucs welcome back two players named to the 2022 SoCon Men’s Soccer Championship All-tournament Team: Sebastian Reventlow-Mourier and Kieran Richards. To take the title this year, the Bucs must improve upon their already stellar form and focus from the previous season.
The Bucs play their next home game in Summers-Taylor Stadium at 7 p.m. on Aug. 24., followed by the women’s team on Sept. 10 at 2 p.m.
