On Tuesday, Feb. 27, Buctainment partnered with Private Island Ice Cream Catering to give out fresh liquid nitrogen ice cream to students from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The free ice cream event was held in the Culp Center Cave during prime lunchtime. With only 250 servings available to students, the vanilla, chocolate, coffee and honey cinnamon ice cream flavors were first come first served.
Private Island Ice Cream Catering’s founders were the founders of Pure Magic Ice Cream, which was Florida’s first liquid nitrogen ice cream company and started the liquid nitrogen ice cream revolution back in 2007.
On their website, Private Island Ice Cream Catering describes their company as, “The next generation of liquid nitrogen ice cream, with an emphasis on excellence in quality, service, and taste.”
Liquid nitrogen ice cream is a delicacy created on the spot. Starting with high-quality cream, to make it, you add the flavor of your choice, and blast it with liquid nitrogen. The liquid nitrogen then causes clouds of vapor to emit from the bowl. At -320 Fahrenheit, the liquid nitrogen almost instantly freezes the ice cream. This ultimately creates the creamiest, smoothest ice cream possible.
Buctainment has some events in the next few months that you can go ahead and save the date for, if you’re interested. March 19, they plan on hosting axe throwing, and, on April 12, they are hosting a foam party for ETSU’s campus to look forward to.
Private Island Ice Cream Catering can cater anywhere. While the company is based in Orlando, Florida, they do not limit their services to Florida. So, if you’re hosting an event and want some liquid nitrogen ice cream, contact them and they will prepare for your event.
