The Buccaneers traveled to Boca Raton, Florida and took on the FAU Owls. Unfortunately the Bucs continue their cold streak, making this their third loss in a row. East Tennessee State went on to lose the their battle against the Florida Atlantic Owls 5-2.
This game was the fourth all-time tennis matchup between ETSU and FAU. This match left the all matchup record between these two teams at 2-2. The Bucs won the first two matchups, while FAU claimed the last two.
The top three singles competitions went as followed: 1. Dimitri Badra (ETSU) def. Alberto Colas (FAU) – 6-4, 6-1, 2. Jiri Jenicek (FAU) def. Milledge Cossu (ETSU) – 6-3, 6-3, 3. Juan Martin Jalif (FAU) def. Pedro Cressoni (ETSU) – 7-5, 6-4.
The doubles competitions went as followed: 1. Mark Havlicek and Jiri Jenicek (FAU) def. Milledge and Francisco Lamas (ETSU) – 7-5, 2. Alberto Colas and Juan Martin Jalif (FAU) def. Dimitri Badra and Adam Nagoudi (ETSU) – 7-5, 3. John Bernard and Simon Mysilvec (FAU) def. Pedro Cressoni and Alberto Garcia (ETSU) – 7-6.
This was a great matchup between two teams, the Bucs will hope to claim victory in their next matchup against the Owls, hopefully pushing the all time record to 3-2. With the current loss East Tennessee State has been shutdown to 4-9, while the FAU Owls have moved to 12-4 on the season. The Buccaneers gave everything they could out on the court, but their efforts weren’t enough to take down the Owls this time around.
The Bucs are gearing up for their next match against the Wofford Terriers on March 24, with first serve being set up for 2 p.m.
