The grand opening of Pepper’s, a new on-campus dining location inside the parking garage, is scheduled for Jan. 29 at 12:30 p.m. Pepper’s will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner options from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. as a part of student meal plans.

The event will feature speakers and a ribbon-cutting ceremony shared Sam Mayhew, associate vice president for student life and enrollment. Free food will be offered and students will be able to make their own street signs. Buctainment will be hosting a karaoke night on Jan. 30 and plan to utilize the space throughout the semester.

There will be an enhanced menu including burgers, quesadillas, tater tots and fries. “It also has the popular items from Treehouse —the salads, the made-to-order sandwiches — all of those will be in Pepper’s,” said Mayhew.

A new feature for on-campus dining is ordering through the Grubhub app. Students can use their meal plan through the app to order ahead and pick it up in Pepper’s. Currently, Pepper’s is the only location in which the meal plan can be used as payment for Grubhub. “Those students who are moving from class to class, this could be a quick way to get food in between classes,” said Mayhew.

Treehouse has been converted into an enhanced convenience store with new food and drink machines. A barista machine will feature custom drinks and boba teas, while another will offer hot items such as hamburger sliders from White Castle and Hot Pockets.

Mayhew shared a Popcake machine that makes made-to-order pancakes is a new feature in the Dining Hall. Another addition in the is reusable containers for to-go meals. Students with a meal plan will receive one container and other students and staff will have the option to purchase one.
