East Tennessee State junior pitcher/center fielder Tim Turner out of Marietta, Ga., was selected by the Seattle Mariners June 4 in the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft.
Turner, the Mariners 50th round selection, finished third on the Bucs with a .301 batting average in 2003. He hit three home runs, had 13 RBI and scored 23 runs last season.
He was 15-of-18 in stolen base attempts on the year, breaking the ETSU record for career stolen bases with 42. He is a .284 batter in his three years in a Buccaneer uniform, adding six home runs, 50 RBI and 71 runs scored.
On the mound, Turner was 2-7 last season and finished second on the club with a 5.44 ERA.
He led the team in innings pitched (89.1) and strikeouts (97), finishing second in the Southern Conference in that category.
For his career, Turner is 6-15 with a 6.12 ERA and 186 strikeouts in 182.2 innings pitched.
