Students will have a new means of transportation on
campus this fall. The BUCSHOT, provided
by the Johnson City Transit, will be available to transport
students to areas in and around ETSU’s campus. The service is expected to be operational and ready to meet
student transportation needs on the first day of school.
However, it will be providing rides today and Friday for
those students moving into the residence halls.
It was officially launched on Monday, Aug. 18 outside of
Warf-Pickel Hall. The hours of operation will
be Monday through Friday from 7:15 a.m. until 10:15 p.m.
There will be two vehicles operating until 4:15 p.m. on those days. After that time, only one vehicle will be used.

The service area extends beyond what the former shuttle
system covered. It allows passengers to travel to places on
campus, Buccaneer Ridge and Buccaneer Village apartments.
Also, the nearby off-campus housing on Greenwood Drive
and the 1600-1800 block of Seminole Drive are included in
the transportation service area.

JCT is hopeful that future BUCSHOT stops will include
the VA Medical School, the Johnson City Medical Center
and the medical buildings on State of Franklin.
There will be no charge for BUCSHOT services to students,
faculty, staff and visitors to ETSU.
Eldonna Janutolo, JCT director, said that each BUCSHOT
vehicle is equipped with air conditioning and heating
systems. There is also upholstered
seating to ensure the comfortableness
of its passengers. Transit vehicles are also liftequipped
to meet the needs of passengers with disabilities.

JCT drivers are trained and prepared to help with any
entering and exiting needs that passengers might have, upon
request. The JCT BUCSHOT will run until the end of the academic
year on May 1, 2004. However, it will not run on
legal holidays observed by the JCT or university-sanctioned
holidays. There will be designated
route and stop locations/times, along with more information
and maps, on the JCT’s web site which can be accessed at
www.johnsoncitytransit.org.
