I’m afraid. I’m very afraid. I think I’m starting to get old.
This all started when I began to enjoy talk radio, and then that Celine Dion song, “A New Day,” kept getting stuck in my head.
Now, there is no doubt-I’m old. I know this because I think girls are dressing too skimpy these days. Not all of them, but there are quite a few.
Is anyone else sick of seeing thongs peeking out of super low – rise jeans? Maybe I am getting older, but come on folks – this is ETSU, not The Planet. I promise there is no good reason to wear your club attire to class. I admit that ETSU might be a good place to look for a date, but please consider the feelings of those of us who don’t attend class to see what color underwear you chose that day.
Please don’t misunderstand me; I’m not picking on girls that like to dress nice. I try not to look too shabby every day when I get ready too.
Also, I’m all for the old saying, “If you’ve got it, flaunt it.” I just really don’t see what’s pretty or attractive about seeing half of someone else’s crack.
Tight clothes are fine, short shorts and skirts are okay, I guess. It’s just the lowest cut jeans I can’t stand. Here’s a handy-dandy guide to go by: If you have to shave unmentionable parts of your body to look right in your jeans, they are TOO LOW.
Hopefully, there are at least a few guys reading this that can identify with what I’m saying. I know thongs don’t impress all of you. I’m sure that somebody likes to simply guess what a girl’s clothes might hide.
I realize, too, that it’s summer and keeping cool is an issue, but that doesn’t explain the jeans. Jeans aren’t really known for keeping you cool. Like I said before, it’s not the length that bothers me as much as the low cut.
The real point here is what is appropriate. The clothes I would wear to a club or to a party is probably not the same thing I would choose to wear to class. At school, I dress for functionality. At the club I dress to be seen.
I can hear my mom’s voice echoing in my ears when I look around at the people in most of my classes. I wonder how people function without pockets, and I wonder how they walk in platform heels. If I wear anything but tennis shoes, I get blisters from the walk to and from my car. Are they just pretending to be comfortable? If so, they are doing a wonderful job at it.
Maybe it’s just me. Maybe my age has crept up on me. Maybe I’m wrong. I want to know what you think.
Do you like to see crack in your classrooms? I think you should just say no.
