Whenever a “silver anniversary” milestone is reached, it is cause for celebration, and that’s just what the Friends of Music organization at ETSU is planning on Tuesday, April 20, when members will observe their 25th anniversary of providing support for the students and faculty in the department of music.
The Friends of Music wants everyone with a love of music to turn out for this “special evening of fun” at the Johnson City Country Club to include dinner, door prizes, highlights of the Friends of Music history, and “exciting musical entertainment.” After the social hour at 6 p.m., dinner will be served at 7, with entertainment promptly following.
The dinner is $30 per person, and reservations must be made by April 16.
For reservations, call (423) 439-4270 until 4:30 p.m., or 926-8904 between 5-9 p.m.
Additional ETSU Friends of Music events celebrating the 25th anniversary include “Jazz at Shelbridge,” which is tentatively planned as a brunch at the President Paul Stanton’s home on Saturday, June 5, and a Gala Concert, billed as “An Evening with Kenton Coe and his Music,” at Central Baptist Church in downtown Johnson City on Friday, Oct. 8.
The Friends of Music also announces the creation of two new endowments for ETSU – the Kenton Coe Composition Endowment Award and the Dr. Carl D. King Vocal Music Education Workshop Fund.
In addition, the organization is seeking updated information on past ETSU music scholarship winners
Anyone that has this information is asked that they contact Stephen Patrick at 439-6994.
