Want to get out of staying at your dorm doing nothing? Sure you have homework and the occasional walk around campus or to the gym, but you need something fresh. Something to spend you money
on … or not. Well, look no further. Here are just some events to mark you calendar with:Sept. 17: Opening in theaters world wide, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow with Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Angelina Jolie. The movie is rated PG. Also opening in theaters on the 17th, Mr. 3000 with Bernie
Mac and Wimbledon with Kirsten Dunst. Both movies are rated PG-13. Over at the Culp Auditorium
Shrek 2 will be playing. At 6 p.m., the ticket booth lobby will be host to some games, storytelling, face painting and more. The reel will roll for Shrek 2 at 7 p.m. Sept. 20: Over on Roan Street will be the grant opening
of Johnny Carinos’, an Italian
restaurant. Sept. 21: There will be a lot going on today. At ETSU, the office of Multicultural
Affairs will be presenting
Brim Leal and his band playing a variety of Hispanic music in honor of national Hispanic Month. This event will take place at 11 a.m. in the Culp Center Atrium. Half an hour later, at 11:30 a.m., Buctainment brings musician
Steven Jackson, in the Culp Marketplace. Later in the evening on the 21st, over at the Culp Auditorium,
Buctainment brings you Nine Queens. Show time is at 7 p.m. Don’t forget about DVD releases coming out too: Star Wars the “original” trilogy box set and Mad TV season 1. Sept. 23: Anyone want to dance? Hispanic dance lessons will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Culp Center Ballroom Left. At 7 p.m. over at the Reece Museum, the films of Thomas Burton and Jack Schrader will be showcased.
Sept. 24: Opening in theaters, The Forgotten with Julianne Moore and Gary Sinise rated PG-13, Shaun of the Dead with Simon Pegg rated R, The Last Shot with Matthew Broderick and Alec Baldwin rated R. And in limited release Final Cut with Robin Williams, Mira Sorvino and Jim Caviezel. Sept. 25: “What Next After Chandra? The Constellation-X Observatory” will be hosted by ETSU astronomer Dr. Mark Giroux. The event will take place at the ETSU Observatory from 8 to 10 p.m. including an open house if Mother Nature is kind. The telescope will be available
to look at the stars. ETSU astronomers will also be on hand to answer some questions.
Sept. 28: At 7 p.m. in the Culp Auditorium, Buctainment brings you Robot Stories. DVD releases include: Eternal
Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Walking Tall, Super Size Me, The Alamo, Envy, Crank Yankers season 1, In Living Color
season 2, Punk’d season 2,Club Dredd special edition, Children of the Corn and Christine.
Sept. 29: More of those Hispanic dance lessons for you. Same
time and place as the dance lessons of the 23rd.
Ball Hall Auditorium will be the home of “The Process.” “The
Process” is the second lecture given by Mel Chin. This lecture
will begin at 7 p.m.
Sept. 30: In the Right Ballroom in the Culp Center, the office
of Multicultural Affairs presents a Latino Heritage Museum.
This event is set to begin at 10 a.m.
