This week is full of events for students, faculty and alumni alike as ETSU celebrates its 2005 Homecoming.
The week will kick off on Monday morning at 11, with a parade from Buck’s Pizza to the Amphitheatre. Here the winners of the Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned.
The main event of the week, the much debated Ludacris concert, will take place on Thursday with the doors to the Mini-Dome opening at 7:30 p.m.
Students interested in attending the Ludacris concert on Thursday should pick up their tickets soon, said SGA President JR Husmillo. As of Friday Oct. 21, about 2,500 of the 5,700 available tickets had been picked up.
“There have been some people getting tickets and saying they won’t go to the concert,” Husmillo said. He is not worried about the attendance, though. “I think there will be tickets available to the public,” Husmillo said. “But if students want to get a guest ticket they should get there early on Wednesday.”
Guest tickets will be available for pick up Wednesday, and faculty and staff tickets will be available Thursday.
On Friday, comedians Tyler Craig, Red Bone and Tony Roberts will perform at 8 p.m. in the Culp Auditorium.
These comedians have been featured on Black Entertainment Television’s Comic View, HBO’s Russell Simmons Def Comedy Jam, Comedy Central’s Comic Groove and Showtime’s Jamie Foxx Presents Laffapalooza.
The audience will have an opportunity to meet the comedians and obtain autographs.
Admission is $5 for the general public and free for students with valid ID. Due to adult content, this event is not suitable for children.
Also performing on Friday will be the ETSU Concert Band. They will present a Homecoming Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the ballroom of The Centre at Millennium Park.
The Fall Family Festival will be taking place from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The festival will feature activities, music, art demonstrations, “Taste of Appalachia”, haunted house, storytelling and a carnival of health.
On Sunday there will be a gospel concert at 3 p.m. in the Culp Auditorium.
