Dear Editor,
This generation is one that lacks a sense of expression. Many people do express themselves as individuals, but this is different than the expression of ideas and beliefs.
Our generation is really not apathetic. It is very opinionated, but we lack the courage and ambition to set our opinions free and change the world we live in. We often express our thoughts and attitudes to our friends and family; however, we fail to express them to the people who can make a difference.
Our generation needs to listen to the news and read the newspaper in order to be able to speak intelligently on the matters going on in the world. We often run our mouths about issues that we don’t know much about, leading us to seem unintelligent and uneducated.
We are looked upon as the young people who don’t care. We need to take a stand and learn about our society and its problems. Maybe if we actually took a risk, studied the issues, and spoke our opinions, we would be able to rid ourselves of the apathetic stereotype that has been put upon us.
The world today is governed by our nation’s older citizens. What is going to happen when all of these people resign and leave their place in the government? Is our generation just going to sit back and watch unintelligently, or are we going to step up and prepare ourselves to fill the shoes of the people that have moved on and left us in charge?
Hopefully our generation will begin to see the importance of caring about our society and helping it function for the benefit of all.
