Dear Editor,
There is a lot of controversy over the minister who was on campus last week. I know a lot of students on this campus that are gay and I think that this guy just needs to back off.
He needs to realize that everyone sins, and that does not mean we are going to hell, because if so, then we would all go to hell.
According to the Constitution we have freedom of speech, freedom of the press and freedom of religion. But that doesn’t mean going around and gay-bashing people or telling people their sins are causing them going to go to hell.
The Bible states that, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever shall believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” That is John 2:16-17. It also states that once you are a child of God you are always a child of God, sin or no sin. Humans are not perfect, Adam and Eve committed the first sin.
The Bible may tell us to be meek and quiet, but at the same time, the times in this world has changed. John Adams’ wife was not meek or quiet, nor was Rosa Parks.
If everyone sinned in this world and is going to hell for it, then that means all of our presidents, past, present and future will be going to hell too for the choices they have made or will make.
How fair is it for some random, so-called “perfect” guy, to come to a college campus telling everyone they are sinners and are going to hell for those sins. It’s not.
There are no perfect human beings, there is only one perfect person and that is, the Lord Jesus Christ, and it is also the Lord Jesus Christ that will judge each and every one of us on Judgment Day.
That guy has no right to judge, because the Bible states that no one shall judge one another. Yet he comes here judging us and yet the guy has sin in his own life.
No one is perfect, and I know that I am very upset over his appearance at our school as I am a lesbian and I am also a Christian.
I can honestly say though, that I know I will go to heaven when I die, whether he believes otherwise or not. It’s what I know and believe and my personal relationship with Christ is my business, not his.
