To celebrate the reopening of the D.P. Culp Student Center, Buctainment, ETSU Sexuality and Gender Alliance, the Residence Hall Association and Fraternity and Sorority Life teamed up on March 2 to throw an inaugural game night bash.

Game Night in the Culp started at 7 p.m. outside of Starbucks on the first floor of the Culp Center. Music provided by Phantom Entertainment and Media filled the lobby as students enjoyed refreshments provided by the Residence Hall Association.

“What we like to offer is a little bit of a unique music bingo experience,” said Anna Hite, the co-owner of Phantom Entertainment and Media. “We don’t just set a playlist and go, it’s a little more interactive than that. We go around and chat with the students, interact, hopefully dance and sing a little bit. That’s my favorite part, because it’s all about having fun”

Music bingo prize packs were provided by Buctainment, and the Panhellenic Council paid for the night’s entertainment. Games were provided by Campus House and the Residence Hall Association, and SAGA provided volunteers for the event.

“We’re really working on trying to get students on campus involved in activities going on,” said Ezra Nichols, staff programmer for Buctainment. “We’ve noticed the past year or two that participation in such events has slowly kind of declined. We’re really hoping now that the Culp is open, people will notice just walking through, so we’re really happy the Culp is open and we’re able to use this space.”

Buctainment is planning more events for the center, one of which Nichols said is a tie dyeing event. Buctainment is also holding member meetings on Wednesdays at 6 p.m in the newly-opened Carrier Center for members’ voices to be heard.

“We’re all just hitting the ground running, and we’re trying to get stuff going, so people who have ideas come to us,” said Nichols. “If we can do it, we’ll do it. If we can’t, we might plan it for another year.”
