On July 23, ETSU announced that Liberty Del Rosario would be joining the women’s basketball coaching staff.
The Ohio native brings an unprecedented amount of experience to Johnson City, having played and coached basketball at numerous levels throughout her career.
Del Rosario spent her first two seasons playing at Columbus State Community College, but transferred to Notre Dame College where she would finish out her degree.
Del Rosario transitioned to a coaching role at Notre Dame College, her alma mater. She would then spend the rest of her coaching career moving up the ranks at a number of different schools.
“This will be my nineteenth season coaching at the collegiate level.” Del Rosario said. “I have definitely been around the block a little bit.”
But Del Rosario doesn’t just bring experience to ETSU — she also claims a staggering number of accomplishments. The 19-year veteran has coached six championship teams and has produced five Player of The Year athletes.
Del Rosario’s track record for developing young athletes will prove to be beneficial.
“This past week, I’ve noticed that we have a lot of talent with the newcomers as well as the returning players,” Del Rosario said. “I know that things are uncertain right now, but that’s okay. We’re preparing to be the best team in the conference.”
Del Rosario expressed her appreciation of ETSU Women’s Basketball Head Coach Brittney Ezell.
“Working with Coach Ezell has been great,” Del Rosario said. “I’ve watched her coach from the sidelines and what she’s done with her teams has been very impressive.”
She also gave some insight on her conversion to the Southern Conference in 2020.
“I’ll be honest, transitioning to ETSU has been exciting, yet seamless,” Del Rosario added. “Being able to work with such a great staff has been a pleasure.”
She now plans to set her sights toward the future of the ETSU program.
“I’ve coached four Division 1 championship teams, one NAIA and another at Division 2,” Del Rosario said. “I expect nothing less than a championship.”
