With the recent announcement of the headliners for ETSU’s upcoming spring concert, I wanted to review a few songs by each of the musical acts to familiarize students with their music. Here is a list of my favorite songs by each artist that you can add to your daily playlists to begin memorizing the lyrics in time for the concert in April.

“Over” by Andi

Andi will be the opening act for the spring concert, and her song “Over” is one of her many singles that is not only upbeat, but contains excellent lyrics.

“It’s Called: Freefall” by Rainbow Kitten Surprise

This band is perfect for alternative music lovers, and “It’s Called: Freefall” is one of their most popular songs, one that will surely be played at the concert. The song itself is wonderful, and my favorite part is the beat drop coming in at the very end.

“Work Out” by Rainbow Kitten Surprise

“Work Out” is the first song I ever heard by RKS and made me fall in love with the band itself. Yes, the song really is that good. Although this isn’t one of their most upbeat works, the energy certainly builds throughout, culminating in a powerful bridge that could rival even Taylor Swift.

“Ridin’ Solo” by Jason Derulo

While many songs by Jason Derulo are very popular and well known, “Ridin’ Solo” is one I forgot about until the concert announcement last week. It certainly highlights everything that was amazing about early 2000’s pop, and like many of Derulo’s songs, it’s perfect for dancing with your friends.

“Whatcha Say” by Jason Derulo

It’s hard to think of a more iconic song that defines 2000’s pop culture than “Whatcha Say.” I can almost guarantee you’ve heard this song at least once in your life, and if you haven’t yet, now is the perfect time.
