The Bucs had a 56-52 road victory at Morehead State, creating a significant achievement for ETSU. The 5-3 record shows that the Lady Bucs had a solid start to the season and an encouraging start for the team to get back into the win column after facing some challenges.

Junior Nevaeh Brown (Charlotte, N.C.) led the Buccaneers to victory this past Sunday by scoring a season-high 19 points and contributing five rebounds.

Other players excelled too, such as Senior Jakhiya Davis (Knoxville, Tenn.), who contributed 8 points for the Bucs. Junior Kendall Folley (Lebanon, Ohio.), Breanne Betty (Worthington, Ohio.) and Junior Sarah Thompson (Gate City, Va.) each added a total of six points to ETSU. This match saw individual performances and teamwork come together for ETSU.

The Buccaneers had a strong start in the game, quickly taking control of the momentum. After briefly trailing 3-2, ETSU went on an 11-0 run, establishing a lead of 13-3. Despite Morehead State’s efforts to reduce the deficit, the Eagles were still behind by seven points, with the score of 16-9 heading into the second quarter.

Morehead State’s shooting performance improved within the second quarter of the game. After a challenging start where they shot 26.7 percent from the field in the first quarter, the Eagles bounced back by shooting 50 percent in the second quarter. This improvement allowed them to narrow the Lady Bucs’ lead, bringing the score down to 23-21 with a little over two minutes left before halftime.

The game became closely contested, with Morehead State trimming the lead to just two points. However, despite an Eagle 3- 3-pointer making the score 29-26 in favor of ETSU, a last-second putback by Jakhiya Davis (Knoxville, Tenn.) extended the Buccaneers’ lead back to five points, making it 31-26 at halftime.

Morehead State came back hard in the third quarter, scoring five of the first seven points and tying the game with ETSU at 33-33. After the tie, ETSU managed to put together a significant 12-0 run. This run allowed them to regain control of the game, heading into the final quarter with a lead of 45-33.

Despite this, ETSU showed resilience, battling back to get within three points (53-50) with a little over two minutes remaining in the game. ETSU held on for the win with a final score of 56-52, making this ETSU’s third consecutive victory against Morehead State.
