ETSU Buctainment held a free custom street sign event on the first floor of the Sherrod Library. Students were invited to personalize their own avenue, street or boulevard in a way unique to them from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 9.
The custom street sign event was one of several organization events held in celebration of the Sherrod Library’s 25th anniversary. The building that opened in 1999 has since been transformed into a popular late night study spot for students, and what better way to celebrate such a momentous milestone than with games, giveaways and music.
Each student had the opportunity to choose from various colored signs and stickers when customizing their sign. Students sought out this opportunity differently, such as several PartyBucs members naming their street “PartyBucs Place” and even placing them on their cars as front license plates. As students set to work, transforming plain colored plastic into works of art, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement and anticipation.
“As a Buctainment member, it’s our goal to foster a sense of belonging, community and personal growth through a diverse range of entertaining and educational events. Seeing all the students coming out to relax and have fun felt like we were making a difference and fulfilling that goal,” said Natalie Hogan, weekly events chair.
Buctainment’s fun didn’t end here though as they teamed up with the Sustainability Ambassadors to host a watch party of the “Bee Movie” later in the day. They are also hosting an end to Greek Week with inflatables in collaboration with Fraternity and Sorority Life from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, April 12.
The semester may be ending soon, but this places no boundaries on student organizations like Buctainment. To keep up to date with new events, visit their Instagram @etsubuctainment.
