The Buccaneers ran away with the Blue Ridge Boarder Battle title this past Saturday in their Southern Conference Opener winning 58-31 over the Western Carolina Catamounts.

The Buccaneers first half possession saw a score on each of the drives making the score at halftime 34-7. As for the defense in the first half of the ball game they only allowed the catamounts to get four first downs in the first half of the game.

Buccaneers Quarterback, Mason Mimms, completed 20 of 27 passes for 220 yards during the victory. During his press conference Buccaneers Head Coach, Will Healy, said, “You know, Mason Mimms is pretty daggum good.”

The Buccaneers 58 points is the most for the Bucs since the return of the football program in 2015.

The Buccaneers have met the Catamounts more than any other opponent, squaring off with the Catamounts on the gridiron 56 times.

The next matchup for the Buccaneers is another rivalry game against the Chattanooga Mocs at William B. Greene Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
