The Buccaneer Men’s golf team concluded their play in the Duke Golf Classic this weekend at the Duke Golf Club in Durham, N.C.
Senior Pat Beste fired a 69 in the final round to propel himself into a tie for 24th individually that helped the Bucs to a 13th-place finish overall.
His third-round effort was ETSU’s best of the tournament and tied for third-best final round overall.
Beste (81-73-69=223) finished 12 strokes behind medalist Brent Wanner of Wake Forest, who shot a three-round total of 75-65-71=211 to edge out North Carolina State’s Chris Mundorf by two strokes.
The Buccaneers, who came into the weekend ranked 13th in the nation by Golfweek, fired their best round of the tournament on Monday with a 295.
They finished in a tie with Tulsa, 35 strokes back of team champion N.C. State (301-285-290=876).
Senior Chris Wisler shot a 3-over par 75 on Monday to finish in a three-way tie for 41st at 11-over par. Sophomore Thomas Lee managed a final round 77 to finish the tournament tied for 47th at 13-over par.
Rounding out the Buc contingency were sophomore Adam Riddering and Freshman Anders Hofvander, who finished 63rd and 86th, respectively.
The Bucs return to action in Hilton Head, S.C., when they play in the Golf World Invitational from Nov. 3-5.ETSU Results
