East Tennessee State University is celebrating Homecoming week with student competitions, campus traditions and opportunities to give back to the community.

This year’s activities include the Pep Rally, Roll Call, Idol Karaoke and trivia, along with service opportunities such as a blood drive and Canned Food Creations. The week gives students a chance to show their school spirit, connect with other Buccaneers and get involved in campus life.

“What I really want students to understand is that Homecoming isn’t just about one football game. It’s about the entire experience of being a Buc, making memories with friends, supporting your student organizations and being part of something bigger than yourself,” said Carter Warden, director of Student Activities and Organizations.

This year’s Homecoming theme combines the 250th anniversary of the United States with ETSU pride. The colors reflect both celebrations, with red, white and blue representing the nation’s anniversary and gold and Buccaneer blue representing the university.

“Red, white, and blue recognize the patriotic spirit of America’s 250th birthday, while gold brings in that unmistakable ETSU identity alongside our Buccaneer blue,” Warden said.

Student organizations and Greek life play a major role in the week’s festivities. Through competitions involving banners, performances, trivia and other challenges, organizations can showcase their creativity while building relationships with fellow students.

“If students make new friends, discover an organization they want to join, volunteer for a good cause, or simply leave an event feeling more connected to ETSU, then the goal has been accomplished,” Warden said.
