Dear Editor,
I am very proud to be an American and a resident of East Tennessee, but it saddened me greatly when I read about the recent accident involving the Ku Klux Klan in Johnson City.
I was surprised see that the Ku Klux Klan still exists in our area.
The Ku Klux Klan, which was started in 1866 and reconstructed in 1915, was developed by white southern men who thought they were superior to African Americans and any other non-white race.
In the past 137 years, our country has changed tremendously, so why is it still so hard for some people to see that race or the color of one’s skin does not matter? We are all the same on the inside. We are all Americans and we are all God’s children.Rebecca Williams
