Dear Editor,
Fall semester marked the end of an era for on-campus programming. Barbara Knight, Condom Olympics and many other sex-education programs are no longer the staple for residence hall staff when planning a program.
Because she has begun a new position, many staff felt that the programming would be lacking that certain combination of fun and entertainment found when a staff person that the residents like and relate to becomes a campus favorite, but we were wrong.
Chef Rick has stepped up and filled these proverbially large shoes.
I wrote a letter commending him for his overwhelming assistance in the presentation and food preparation for the international culinary program, “What’s This I’m Eating?” and over the last few months, he has taken an even larger bite of the housing pie by hosting, cooking, and presenting for many residence hall activities – sharing some of his culinary talent with the students here at ETSU.
His latest assistance was seen in the murder mystery dinner theater titled “The Death of the Creole Chef” where he provided his time and free food for this hall council fundraiser.
I would like to use this letter to serve three purposes. I wish to make everyone aware of how much assistance the Chef has given to the residence halls this semester, and I would also like to thank ARAMARK Dining Services for allowing Chef Rick to be available for these programming events, and finally, I wish to thank the Chef for his efforts and assistance, which have propelled him to become a popular and well-loved member of the campus community here at ETSU. So, when you see Chef Rick at RFOC making one of his lunch specialties, say ‘thank you’ for bringing a new vitality – and menu – to our campus.
