Dear Editor:
This day of the Great American Smokeout seems the perfect opportunity to make ETSU a genuine advocate for improving the health of the region by supporting a proposition to limit smoking on campus to the parking lots.
Such a restriction would eliminate the gauntlets of smoke and stench that foul the entrance to virtually every building at this institution. It would also eliminate much of the litter.
Austin Peay State University has made this move, and ETSU, as the leading healthcare institution in the TBR system should follow suit. It is a long overdue proposition.
