Internationally acclaimed pianist Constantine Finehouse will perform in a Guest Artist Recital sponsored by the East Tennessee State University Department of Music on Sunday, April 1, at 3 p.m. in Mathes Hall.
The program includes Mozart’s unfinished “Fantasie in D,” Schumann’s “Fantasie, op. 17” and Brahms’ “Sonata No. 3.” Tickets are $5.
A native of Saint Petersburg, Russia, where he received his early training at the City Music School, Finehouse immigrated to the United States at age 13, settling in Boston and continuing his studies at the All Newton Music School in West Newton, Mass., and the New England Conservatory Preparatory Division. He later earned his bachelor’s degree in music at The Juilliard School and his master of music at Yale University.
Finehouse was recently praised by Rhein Main Presse Allgemeine Zeitung for his “interpretations of depth and maturity.”
He has appeared in a number of prestigious venues and festivals throughout the United States and Europe, and received a 2004 Foundation Grant from Boston’s St. Botolph Club, where he is an associate in the arts and a regular performer.
Finehouse released his debut recording featuring works by Beethoven, Brahms and Ravel in July 2004 and is currently recording two additional albums. The first is the complete piano works of Pulitzer Prize- and Grammy Award-winning composer William Bolcom for Naxos Records. He is recording the second -Bolcom’s complete compositions for violin and piano for Albany Records – with violinist Philip Fiscor as part of the American Double ensemble.
