ETSU’s Gray Fossil Site is now open to the public. The site offers a unique learning experience for all ages. The site now has a natural history museum on location to give guests a look into what they have found.
The staff is made up of volunteers, generally people associated with ETSU or the Gray area. The museum offers a guided tour of the site to show guests the workers digging away at the new fossils they have found. Some of the animals include alligators, red pandas, a rhinoceros, and many other fossils.
“The unknown and searching for knew things, is the greatest thrill,” says Brian Compton, a worker at the site. He explained that he loves to discover new things on site. The museum is set up so that visitors can learn all about the fossils that lived 4.5 milion to 7 million years ago.
Visitors are able to visit the site and museum daily 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a $5 admission charge for adults and $3 for children. For more information you can call toll free (866) 202- 6233 or e-mail info@grayfossillmuseum.org.
