The Bucs tucked another win under their belt Friday on the road against the Chattanooga Moccasins (25-21, 25-21, 25-19).

This gives them a five-game winning streak and put them 12-3 (3-0 SoCon).

“Our goal is to compete, plain and simple, and stay low in errors as well as play our game,” said head coach Benavia Jenkins. “We do well when we play our game.”

This is the Bucs’ sixth-straight win against the Mocs since 2017, coming out on top in all three sets this match and is the second consecutive week that the Bucs have hit above .300 in a match. This was led by senior Kaela Masey (Brentwood, Tennessee), who had an impressive nine kills with 17 attempts and only a single error.

“As long as we focus on what ETSU volleyball needs to do, we’re fine,” said Jenkins.

During the first set the Bucs came through with skill taking a 15-19 lead. Toward the end of the frame, the Mocs took a 4-0 run, which set them closer to taking the match at 20-17. The Blue and Gold won the first set 25-21.

The second set, the Mocs took the lead, but the Bucs did their magic and came back to a close lead of 9-8. The Blue and Gold won the frame 25-21 as a result of their three kills, along with an attacking error from the Mocs.

During the third set, the Mocs amped up their plays in their attempt to win a set. Halfway through, the teams tied at 13, when the Blue and Gold went on a 4-0 run to take the lead 17-13.

Chattanooga found themselves in a hole they could not dig themselves out of as the Bucs took the win 25-19, finishing off with a kill by freshman Olivia Cunningham (Knoxville, Tennessee).

“To be on the road is very tough, so I think our girls did a pretty good job at being able to perform and hold their own,” said Jenkins. “It’s very important to us that we win matches on the road because when you’re at home, you have your fans and your crowd behind you, but when you’re on the road it’s a different atmosphere.”

After the Chattanooga game, the Bucs went on to beat Mercer on Saturday, advancing their conference record to 4-0.

The Bucs are back at Brooks Gym on Oct. 11, where they will play against Wofford at 6 p.m.
