Live from your home, it’s a “Saturday Night Live” Q&A.

Three actors from the sketch comedy show “SNL” will hold live Q&A comedy shows as part of “ETSU Laughing Alone Together Comedy Series Featuring ‘SNL’ Cast.” Mikey Day is set to perform April 30, Chloe Fineman goes live for ETSU May 3, and Kenan Thompson will perform May 7. Each event begins at 8 p.m.

“I hope students just get some laughter and relaxation,” said Carter Warden, director of ETSU Student Activities and Organizations.

The events are free and open only to members of the ETSU community. Registration for the events opens April 20 on the SGA concerts website and requires an ETSU email. After registering, an automatic response with the log in link for the event selected.

Those with ETSU emails and E-numbers may register for each event. There is a 10,000 person log in limit on each show’s attendance.

Each comedy show will be held on Zoom Webinars, which is different from Zoom Meetings that most of the campus has used since all classes moved online in March.

Students may submit questions for the comedians in advance of the live shows on the SGA major events webpage. Those who elect to share their name may be recognized for their questions during the event. Zoom Webinars also allow questions to be submitted during the live event.

This event comes after the spring 2020 concert featuring X Ambassadors was cancelled due to COVID-19. Virtual events are one way Warden hopes to connect the ETSU community while social distancing, especially since the events occur during dead week and finals.

“We tried to get it all in before graduation, and so it looks like it’s happening finally,” he said. “I’m pretty excited about it.”

Thompson joined the “SNL” cast in 2003. He has impersonated people such as Steve Harvey and R. Kelly and has played multiple characters in sketches. Before “SNL,” Thompson had roles in TV shows “All That,” and “Kenan & Kel” and movies, including “The Mighty Ducks” and “Good Burger.” Thompson has previously performed at ETSU in 2013 as a guest comedian.

Chloe Fineman joined “SNL” as a featured player in 2019 and has appeared in various sketches. Most recently, she impersonated Carole Baskin of Netflix’s “Tiger King.” Her TV appearances outside of the sketch comedy show include “Jane the Virgin” and “Search Party.”

Day became a cast member for “SNL” in 2013. He has portrayed Donald Trump Jr. and Pee-wee Herman in addition to other characters on the show. Beyond “SNL,” he has appeared in multiple TV shows, including “Wild ‘n Out” and “Maya and Marty.” Day has also written for shows such as “The Underground” and “Robot Chicken.”
