Women’s golf traveled to play in the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate event on Sept. 20-21. The two-day 54-hole tournament was held at the Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The Bucs ended their 2020-21 season with back-to-back wins and looked to keep their momentum going into their 2021-22 season.

The Bucs finished the first day of the event tied for 10th place in the field of 17. The Bucs saw No. 1 Slot Sera Hasewaga (Gifu, Japan) tie with teammate Grace Chin (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), who was a SoCon all-freshman just last season, with 2-over-par 144. The two athletes had an impressive day, Chin scored the lowest round of her career at 69.

The final day of the two-day event saw Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic) collect six birdies to end her outing on a high note with a score of 69 (75-74-69) and tie with teammate Grace Chin (75-69-74) at the event, placing 26th.

Hasegawa, in her debut for ETSU, closed the event tied for 20th. The freshman ended 4-over-par (71-73-73). Senior Hollie Muse (Liverpool, England) ended the event tied for 32nd (70-78-72) in her debut for the Bucs and senior Ellie Darnell (Kettering, Northamptonshire, England) finished tied for 85th (79-78-75).

As a team, the Bucs shot for 4-over 288 on the day and finished 10th in the tournament with a score of 21-over-par-873. The Bucs were grouped with Middle Tennessee and Virginia Tech during the event. BYU would take home the trophy as they shot 2-over-par 854 in the event after beginning the day tied with host, Tennessee. BYU shot 1-under in the final round to secure the victory. Miami finished the event in 2nd place.

The Bucs will look to bounce back when they head to Colorado for the 3-day Golfweek Conference Challenge, Sept. 27-29.
