The Pinnacle Speedway in Lights made its return to Bristol Motor Speedway this past Friday, Nov. 12.

For students who are not from the Tri-Cities region, the Speedway in Lights is a huge tradition here. Families, friends and groups from the region travel here each year to drive around the grounds of the speedway and on the race track itself to see millions of Christmas lights.

2021 marks the 25th year of the spectacle.

This event features a four-mile route that is decorated with more than three million Christmas lights, and it ends in the Christmas Village in the center of the speedway where participants can gather around fire pits with one another and toast marshmallows.

In the center of the speedway, not only can you toast marshmallows and warm up by the fire, but guests can take advantage of photo opportunities, shop with local vendors and ride some of the family-friendly midway rides. Santa Claus himself may even be there to greet everyone!

The holiday light spectacular serves as a fundraiser for the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities, which raises money for child focused agencies throughout the Appalachian Highlands region, originally written for Jayski’s Seasonal.

“It’s amazing to think that we have been hosting The Pinnacle Speedway in Lights for 25 wonderful years,” said Claudia Byrd, executive director of the Bristol chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities. “What began all those years ago as a simple signature fundraising event has evolved into a mega holiday tradition for thousands of visitors each year.”

After touring the Pinnacle Speedway in Lights route, guests are encouraged to visit the Tri-Cities Airport Ice Rink at Bristol Motor Speedway presented by Stateline Services. The Ice Rink is open from Friday, Nov. 12 until Sunday, Jan. 9.

Speedway in Lights runs from now until Jan. 1 and is held nightly from 6 to 10 p.m.
