Jeremy Marlor is more than just a college student at ETSU, he has quickly grown to become one of the voices of the community.

As a radio DJ for The Edge 89.5, ETSU’s student-run radio station, and host of his podcast “The Jeremy Marlor Sports Show,” Marlor has more than the capability of  maintaining a radio presence–he has a passion for it.

This passion is something Marlor intends to pursue after he has graduated from ETSU; he shares that his ultimate career goal is to get a radio job in which he can continue with his specialization of sports.

Marlor’s interest in sports is something that he explores outside of the realm of radio; he had partnered with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes to help host the first annual FCA Adapted Baseball Clinic, which took place on Saturday, Sept. 30.

Listeners of “The Jeremy Marlor Sports Show” get to hear Marlor’s sports expertise that spans multiple leagues, although he admits that ETSU and University of Tennessee are personal favorites at the college level and that the Dallas Cowboys are a favorite NFL team.

Being from the area and a graduate of Science Hill, Marlor also likes to highlight teams and sports that are of local interest, so he makes sure to include regional high school athletics, as well as NASCAR.

He takes pride that listeners get to hear a little bit of everything on “The Jeremy Marlor Sports Show,” which he has hosted since 2019. Currently, the podcast has produced over 100 episodes.

Marlor added another extracurricular to his plate when he became a radio DJ with the Edge 89.5 this year.

“It was an adjustment at first,” Marlor said.

Marlor hopes that his radio and campus presence at ETSU will inspire more students to “be more involved with [their] campus.”

Marlor has experienced first-hand the challenges that come with being a college student and maintaining outside hobbies and extracurriculars. For other students in a similar position, his advice is to “buckle down and go on.”

Although he is from the area, Marlor said that his interest in attending ETSU was sparked by his older sister Nikki, who graduated from the university in 2014. Now, in his second year at ETSU and with the Access ETSU service, Marlor remarks on his time spent with both as “phenomenal.”

Those interested in listening to “The Jeremy Marlor Sports Show” can visit Marlor’s personal Facebook page, where he uploads all the episodes. While he has no strict schedule of uploading, he aims to produce a new episode weekly.
