The Buccaneers men’s golf team traveled to Maui, Hawaii, to compete in the Ka’anapali Classic in their last fall tournament of the season from Thursday, Oct. 26 to Saturday, Oct. 28. 

Day one for the Bucs started off a little slow as a team, finishing tied for fourth with Oklahoma in a 12-under-par 272. Liberty University took first place on day one. 

Individually, for day one, senior Mats Ege (Kristiansand, Norway) earned a 5-under-par 66 in a six-way tie for eighth place. Graduate student Remi Chartier (Montreal, Canada) and senior Archie Davies (Carlisle, England) started strong but could not keep the momentum up by the end of the first day. Davies tied for nineteenth place, and Chartier tied for twenty-seventh with teammate sophomore Matty Dodd-Berry (Wirral, England).

Day two progressed with improvements in both team and individual scoring. 

The Bucs rose in the ranks with good performances from all five players; everyone shot below par. 

Individually, Ege played a 7-under-par 64 with back-to-back birdies on holes 11 and 12, as well as another birdie in the day. Ege finished in first place, tied with Josh Ryan from Liberty University.  

Chartier and Dodd-Berry tied for nineteenth place after day two with a 3-under-par 68. 

As a team, the Bucs finished day two tied for second place alongside Oklahoma with a 17-under-par 267 for the day, totaling 29-under-par 539. Liberty remained in first place.  

Going into the final day, ETSU played against Liberty, Oklahoma and the University of North Florida. 

Chartier finished the tournament in a tie for thirteenth place after posting a 4-under-par 67 on day three with four birdies in a row on holes 6-9. 

Dodd-Berry tied for fifteenth with an 8-under-par 205, and junior Algot Kleen (Fiskebackskil, Sweden) tied for twentieth place with a 7-under-par 206. 

Ege ended the Ka’anapali Classic in second place with a score of 15-under-par 198.  

As a team, the Buccaneers took the title in a tie for first place with Oklahoma. The Bucs earned a team score of 42-under-par 810. 

The Ka’anapali Classic rounded out the end of the fall season for men’s golf. They start their spring season at the Puerto Rico Classic from Sunday, Feb. 11, to Tuesday, Feb. 13, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
