ETSU’s Student Ceramics Association hosted its semesterly sale this week to show off and sell pieces.

On Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. through 4 p.m. members of the Student Ceramics sale displayed their art pieces outside of Ball Hall for students and visitors to come see and purchase. Students display pieces from throughout the semester they have made in class.

Brianna Yeary helped host the event and said, “We always have a variety of ceramic pieces for sale. While a majority of them are wheel-thrown pottery items like bowls, cups and mugs, we also have a few sculptural pieces, earrings, magnets, ornaments and other small trinkets. There’s pretty much something for everybody.”

This sale helps students get familiar with selling their work and allows the association to raise money. It is a great opportunity for students to share their hard work with other students and members of the community.

“Half of the profit goes back to the club to cover material costs and help pay for visiting ceramic artists that we bring in the spring semesters. The other half goes to the artists that made the pieces. By coming to the sale, people are both helping our club and supporting small artists,” Yeary said.

These sales are a great place for students to meet others with similar interests or get a taste of something new on campus. Other artist within the community often stop by to see and buy new art. Everyone is welcome at the sales to browse or to buy.

“We use these sales to both raise funds for our club and give our members a taste of what it’s like to have their work on the market so they can become familiar with pricing, network and meet other artists that might stop by, and potentially start to grow an audience,” Yeary said.

Anyone who missed the event can find updates about when the next one will be on the Student Ceramics Association Instagram or website.
