Day 1- The women’s golf team started off strong at the Chattanooga Classic, teeing off the first and finishing the first round in the lead at 6-over-par 290. Junior Sophie Bert (Duerle, Belgium) for third at 1-under 70, while freshman Brianna Castaldi (Port Saint Lucie, Fla.) and senior Gracie Chin (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) tied for ninth at 1-over 72.

ETSU led by one shot over Western Kentucky, with North Florida tied for third, four strokes behind.

 

Day 2- In the second round of the Chattanooga Classic, ETSU’s Alex Crafton (Lake Mary, Fla.) climbed 38 spots on the leaderboard with a 4-under 67, totaling 2-over-par 144. Grace Chin was tied for eighth at even-par 142, Sophie Bert was tied 11th at 1-over-par 143.

ETSU dropped to fourth place overall at 8-over-par 576, with Michigan and South Florida tied for the lead at 2-over-par 570.

 

Day 3- Sophie Bert continued her strong performance, finishing tied for 11th at 3-over-par 216 in the Chattanooga Classic.

Bert showcased consistency with a second straight 2-over 73 in challenging weather conditions. Throughout the tournament, Bert accumulated 30 pars and 11 birdies, highlighting her all-around skill. Despite Bert’s efforts, ETSU women’s golf team finished sixth overall 25-over-par 877.

The team faced tough competition, with Michigan claiming both individual and team titles. Senior Amber Thornton (Canberra, Australia) contributed to ETSU’s performance with a matching 2-over-par 73 in the final round.

Brianna Castaldi finished tied for 31st at 10-over-par 223, while Alex Crafton tied for 36th at 11-over-par 224, and Grace Chin tied for 39th at 12-over-par 225. The team’s performance, while not achieving their desired result, provides valuable experience and lessons heading into the upcoming Southern Conference Championship from April 16 to 18 at Moss Creek South in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
