Dr. Daryl Carter, associate dean and director of Black American Studies, and Wayne Winkler, former director of WETS 89.5 FM radio, producer of “Soul Kitchen,” and author, will reflect on the messages related to Black History Month and Soul Music on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at noon in the D.P. Culp Auditorium.
They will have a conversation about how music has been an instrument to convey African American plight, story, creativity and more throughout American history. Focusing on the early 1900s and after, music continues to be an integral reflection reference of American history and society.
Come and jive through incredible music styles: ragtime with syncopation, added blues notes, and complex rhythms that nobody heard before.
