On Saturday, April 25, the ETSU football team played their annual Ballad Health Spring Game at the William B. Greene Jr. Stadium in Johnson City, Tenn. A large crowd of fans came out and supported the team as they wrapped up their spring training.
This football game works a bit differently than normal games that ETSU plays, where they do not have another team as an opponent. This is a game where the defense plays as one team and the offense plays as another. The offense scores their points the same as a normal game, through touchdowns and field goals. The defense scores their points through turnovers, missed field goals, and defensive stops.
With a long battle between teams and some great plays on both sides, the defense ended up winning. With spring practices closing for the ETSU football team, this success is a great indicator for how the upcoming season will go.
ETSU will play back to back home games against Campbell University on Aug 29 and Tusculum on Sept 5. Make sure to keep up with the Buccaneers as they continue to prepare for their fall season.
